RESULTS OF POLL. [By Telegraph.] (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This day. Mr H. D. Bell 1239, Mr G. Fisher 852. Christchurch, This day. Mr Cooper G92, Mr Smith 525. In a speech after the declaration of the poll Mr Smith accused the liquor trade of working to secure his defeat, and said if he had so wished he could have had the Prohibition League at his back. Mr A. Chalmers was elected Mayor of Lyttelfcon and Mr N. Bowden Mayor of Sydenham. Greymouth, This day. Mr .J. T. Skogland, was re-elected by a majority of 92 over Mr Bell. Mr Ward was re-elected Mayor of Brunner by a majority of 40. Panxkvirkg, This day. A. MacKay 129, W. Henderson 118. Hawera, This day. Sutton 154, Major 145. Thames, This day. Mr T. Radford was re-elected. New Plymouth, This day. Mr J. B. Roy 310, Cr. Furlong 133. Wanganui, This day. The Mayoral election resulted in a tie between the two candidates —Messrs Hartrick aud Stevenson, —the polling being the heaviest on record here. The returning officer decided in favor of Mr Stevenson by tossing a coin. Palmerston, This Day. Mr W. T. Wood 344, Mr H. Haydon 185. llokittka, This day. Mr H. L. Michel defeated Mr J. Mandle,the present Mayor, bv 55 votes. I)r.\i:i>ix, This day. Mr H. Gourley 946, Mr F. Hardy 549. At Roslvn Mr L. Ivennitz defeated Mr A. Matheson. At Balclutha, where Liquor and Prohibition entered somewhat into the contest Mr Corley (Liquor) polled 119, and D. Stewart (Prohibitionist) 85. Invercargtll, This day. Mr Hanan 358, Mr J. Stead 259.
