A Honeymoon Tragedy.

A shocking murder was perpetrated at <):ikluml, California, in the outskirts of the town, on Tuesday night, September 10, bearing all the features of the once famous Mybridge case. Less than a fortnight previously a pretty little marriage ceremony was performed in Oakland between David Ellis and Mary Noes, and the happy couple left for a honeymoon trip Kast. ?»li>s Xoes had been considered one of th'.i helles of the district, and had therefore many admirers, among them a man named I Slack, a weil-to-do but rather disreputable character- Miss Noes, however, gave le-r hand to l'.llis, a rising young physician, and the marriage was celebrated amidst the general approval of the girl's family. On Tuesday the" newly-married couple returned from their honeymoon, and took their abode in a cottage just outside the city, which during their absence had been newly decorated and furnished for their accommodation. In the afternoon they held a reception, and this was followed by a family dinner party in the evening. A few minutes after the Inst gsie-t had left there was a sharp ring of the bell, and Mr EiiU thinking it was one of his friends who had forgotten something, went himself to the door accompanied by his wife. He was confronted by a strange-looking man in a slouch hat, who in reply to Mr Kllis's question as to what he wanted, said : '■ Am 1 speaking to David Kliis ?" You are," was the reply. '• What can Ido for you?" ''Die," answered the other, and immediately drawing a revolver from his pocket he shot his unfortunate victim no le.-s than six times. Kvery bullet took effect, and ]•! His fell dead in his bride's arms. It has since been ascertained that the murderer is no other than Black, the rejected suitor, for who.se arrest a warrant has been issued.
