The Hastings colt shot up on the inside and cut down The Shrew and Marquis of Zetland. St. Laura coming fast was fourth. Time, lmin 42 l-ssec. Div., £6 lbs 6d. Canterbury Cup, 2{- miles. Lady Zetland, 9st ... ... 1 Euroelydon, 9st ... ... 2 Epaulet, 7st 6lb ... ... 3 Defiance was the only other starter. Won easily by a length. When the word was given Defiance and Euroelydon made the pace, with Lady Zetland in the rear passing the grandstand. Going down the back, Euroelydon increased the lead to a dozen length, while Epaulet moved up second and Defiance retired. At the six-furlong post the mare started to coins and caught the leader as the field rounded into the straight, and won easily, Defiance a furlong in the rear.
