NAPIER NOTES.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] Namkk, November 2. It is proposed to start a dairy depot at the Spit, where all milk will be sterilised by Pasteur's process before being retailed to customers. The police received information yesterday that two lodgers at the Exchange Hotel were robbed of «£'G and l~>s respectively. The money is alleged to have been removed from the pockets of their clothes in their bedrooms where they were sleeping. The Wanderers' Bicycle Club had a run out to Taradale and Meanee on Saturday. A strong westerly wind deterred any but the best riders, but still a good many took part. A man named Munsie was brought into Napier yesterday by Constable Rutledge and wiil be charged with lunacy. He was found wandering in the bush at a place called Tuki Tuki. The sum of .£6703 Os 3d was collected as customs duties during the month of October as against £i~i37 for the corresponding month last year. Last year the beer duty for October was .£279 6s; last month it was J6255 19s lid. The sale of privileges in connection with the Town and Suburban races resulted in \V. E. Hose securing the publican's booth for ;£2l; Mrs Jeffries the luncheon booth, £2 ; the same bidder the fruit and confectionery booth, £2 10s ; and A. Jones the books. .£ll 10s. At the first annual meeting of the H.B, Camera Club the following officers were elected: —President, Mr H. A. Banner; vice-president, l>r A. Milne-Thompson; treasurer, Mr G. H. Pierce ; secretary, Mr W. Beswick (Post-office) ; committee, Messrs. T. Bear. J. E. Cooper, G. P. Green, J. K. Newton, and H. Owen. Brother James Buggs, late treasure'' of Court Robin Hood, A.0.F., Port Almriri, was entertained at a social gathering at the Spit on Saturday night on the eve of his departure for Auckland.
