NAPIER NOTES.
[Froii Our Own Cop.ekkponden-t.] Napier, October 27. At the inquest on the body of Dixie Ogden, the little colored man belonging to the Godfrey Company's orchestra, who died on Saturday niglit. the doctor's evidence showed death was due to peretonitis and the rupture of a small blood vessel. The deceased was buried in the afternoon, Messrs Godfrey, Lohr, Brown and Rawlins acting as the pallbearers, and Dean Hovell reading the burial service. At the conclusion of the service each member of the company threw some earth on the coffin, and Miss Baker sang "The sweet bye-and-bye," those present joining ill the chorus. The scene was a most impressive. Mr Godfrey and his company had a crowded house at the Theatre Royal last night, and their performance was very much appreciated. There was a crowded attendance at the the school concert at the Spit last night. The pupils were the performers and acquited themselves iu a highly creditable manner.
