DISEASED MEAT.

[To The Editor.] Sir,—The Napier Public Works Committee have given our Borough Councillors a lead which I hope they will follow. Dr De Lisle's report 011 diseased meat Ims, I am sure, been read by every one of them, and its importance is no doubt fully recognised by each and all. It is fully time that prompt action was taken ill thoroughly inspecting the cattle that iiue*being slaughtered in this town for consumption. The person who is supposed to inspect even the cows used for dairying purposes has no power, and his authority is of the most flimsy description. 1 will watch and see if any of our councillors are alive to the example shown by our Napier neighbors.—l am, &e., Steak.
