The Cabinet has voted ,£2.000 for the Mangaweka section of the North Island Trunk Railway ; £2,600 for the Belgrove-Westport-Reefton section of tlie Midland Railway ; and £'2.000 for the Avondale Asylum at Auckland. Plans have been ordered for a station building on the Otira Gorge section of the Midland Railway and a vote of £3,500 authorised. The Cabinet has decided to acquire Mr Purvis Russell's Woburn Estate, of 27,200 acres, near Waipukurau on the Napier Railway line,under the compulsory clauses of the Land for Settlement Act.
