DROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA.
CABLES.
Aoelaiok, Oct. 21
j In connection with the drought in the imrthorn pastoral districts of this colony, a peculiar statement \va> made to tin* manager of the Leigh's C reek station, who forwarded to Adelaide a quantity of hones of rabbits- which he alleged were taken from the stomach of a -beep killed by one of his men a few day* ago. He says this will give an idea of the state of the drought in the far north, when sheep have lived on dead rabbits. Ho adds, it is the severest drought ever known. The station lost all the lambs last season, and it is getting too late to expect any next year. Nearly all the breeding nit - are dead. The uumber of sheep shorn last year was 20.000 below what was expected, this number representing the victims of the drought.
