A SUPPOSED OUTRAGE.

FIVE FROSPECTORS MISSING

Sydney, Oct. 16. The steamer Titus brings news of the supposed massacre of five Queensland prospectors on the north-east coast of New Guinea. The party, accompanied by a number of New Guinea natives, started in a boat for the Monibare river goldfields, and shortly afterwards a trading vessel picked up a native on the coast, who stated that the boat ha_l capsized, and that he was the only survivor. Subsequently some property belonging to the prospectors and the oars and boat were found in the possession of the natives, and other evidence strongly points to a massacre. The authorities are inquiring.
