"Wellington, This day

H. Dix, for many years connected with the Wellington Press, and one of the Parliamentary reporters of the Press Association, died of throat disease at the hospital this morning. He has been lingering for the past eight months. Mr Dix was in the Australian colonies in the early goldfield days. He leaves a large family, mostly grown up. The boy Carpenter, who was shot on Wednesday, died this morning. His recovery was hopeless from the beginning. Woodville This day. In response to a requisition Mr V. Jensen, late of Porangahau but new of Woodville, has announced himself as a candidate for Pahiatua in the Liberal interests.
