Interprovincial News.

The date for the collection of returns under the Agricultural and Pastoral Statistics Act, 1895, has been fixed for November 10th. The adjourned half-yearly meeting of shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand was held at AVellington yesterday afternoon. Sir Watson, president, said he expected when they last adjourned that legislation pending would have been completed. As it had not it had been decided to recommend a further adjournment. He therefore moved that the meeting should be adjourned until Thursday, '29 th inst. The Hon. AV. Johnston seconded the motion. In the short discussion which followed Mr G. F. M'Lean expressed the opinion that the banking legislation reflected very little credit on the Government and others concerned, and the shareholders had been afforded too little opportunity of expressing any opinion upon it. The motion to adjourn was then put and agreed to, the meeting only occupying a few minutes. ' Mr Richard Wiseman, at one time well-known on the Auckland and Victorian goldfields, died in the Mount A'iew Asylum at Auckland yesterday. He was on the stage for many years and was the father of the first wife of the late -J. L. Hall, the well-known comedian, and of Miss Laura AYiseman (Mrs Anderson) and Miss Fanny AYiseman (Mrs Smith), both well known on the colonial boards. Mr AYiseman lived at the Thames from the opening of the field until five years ago, when he gave up business. Deceased, who was 75 years of age, had a large circle of friends. At a meeting of the remaining members of the Dunedin Benevolent Trustees a letter was read from three members of the Charitable Aid Board appointed as trustees declining to act, and stating that at the proper time, if necessary, the chairman of the Board will be prepared to carry on the institution. As a quorum of trustees remained they hoped better counsels would prevail and that they would remain in office till the commissioner's report was received. The trustees dealt with relief cases, At the Charitable Aid Board meeting, the chairman having stated that the Commissioners had reported in favor of splitting the difference between the Board and the trustees, it was decided to vote the trustees £250, half the advance allowed on the sum previously voted, and to pay off tbe trustees' overdraft.
