The following events were run after we went to press yesterday afternoon : Railway Handicap, of 100 sovs ; second horse to receive 10 soys, from the stake. Six furlongs. Mr T. Morrin's b f Armilla, 3ys 7st 121b 1 Hon. -J. I). Ormond's b m Martyrdom, 5 yrs, 7st 18lb ... ... 2 Mr CI. E. G. Richardson's ch f Forest Rose, 8 yrs, 7st ... 8 Moonraker, Torpina, Orion's Belt, and Jack Tar also started, A good race up the straight resulted in a comfortable win for Armilla. G. liichardson's b h Popgun, 4yrs, 7st 91b ... ... 1 Mr Aron's First Blood, 2vrs, 7st 41b 2 Mr W. Douglas's blk m Waiau, 4yrs, 7st 51b ... ... ... 8 Maid Marion, Belligerent, Sabreur, and Wikitoria also started. Won by a good two lengths, second and third horses close together with Sabreur next. SECOND DAY. Racecoukse, This day. The weather is again gloriously fine for the second day's races, and the attendance during the afternoon increased at a rapid rate, being very much larger than yesterday. The course is in splendid order. The City Band is performing satisfactorily. The dresses of the ladies is the theme of admiration, and some very handsome costumes adorn the lawn. The weather seems to have a surprising effect on those present, and there is something approaching enthusiasm at* the results, something not often seen at Park meetings. Napier people generally take their pleasures sadly, but to-day all seem bent on enjoyment—and on making money. The following are the results : Second Tkial Handicap Hurdlbs, of 50 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. One mile and a half. Mr J. Bollo's b g Prairie Grass, aged, list 71b 1 Mr T. H. Lowry's g g The Joker, aged, Ost 7lb ... ... ... 2 Mr E. Ilavill's g g Turk, aged, lOst 3 Hilda 11,, Blackberry, and Waitangi also started. Turk and Hilda made the running for the first mile, and were a dozen lengths in front down the back stretch with Prairie Grass last. At the pines Turk, who was leading, struck and almost came down. Blackberry also struck the same fence. Prairie Grass here came through with a fast run and won easily. Time, umin 7Asecs. Div., £2 lis. Caledonian Handicap, of 50 sovs ; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. Six furlongs. Mr F. Moeller's br g Torpina, 4yrs Hst 121b 1 Mr G. P. Donnelly's b g Haeata, syrs, lOst ... ... ... 2 Mr G. Murray-Aynsley's br h Salvo, oyrs, lOst 41b ... 3 Straydone was scratched. Ivingsman, The Boatman, Woodstock, and Jack Tar also started. Bacing Club Handicap, of 150 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. One mile and a distance. Mr A. Nopera's b g Flaneur, aged 7st 31b 1 Mr W. Rathbone's ch g Blarney, syrs, 7st 81b ... ... ... 2 Mr C. Siddels's bug Moonraker, syrs, 7st 91b ... ... ... 3 Flying Shot was scratched. Lotion, Golden Plover, Orion's Belt, Waterstone, and Martyrdom also started. Mr Piper sent the field off to a splendid start, Flaneur and Orion's Belt going to the front and led the field by six lengths. At the home turn the Belt retired. There was a splendid race home, but Nopera's gelding was never headed. Time, 2min l-ssec. Div.. £6 7s. Telephone Handicap, of 50 sovs ; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. One mile.
