EUROPEAN AND FOREIGN. London, Oct. 2. Mr Tronwith, Labor Party leader of Victoria, addressed a meeting of Battersea workers, and met with a hearty „< reception. New Yoek, Oct. 2. Mr A. E. Stevenson, vice-President of the United States, received severe injuries owing to the collapse, of a platform at a political meeting afc Burlington, State of lowa. Paris, Oct. 2. A state of seige has again been proclaimed in Madagascar, in consequence of an attack made immediately on the arrival of General Galbieni, the newlyappointed French Resident. The French have arrested two Siamese postmen on the right bank of the Mellong. Stockholm, Oct. 2. The Swedish elections resulted in the return of 128 Freetraders Protectionists. Zanzibar, Oct. 2. The British Consul is protesting against the action of the German Consul in conveying Abdul Khaled, who seized the palace on the death of the the late Sultan, to Dares Salaam without his knowledge. Paris, Oct. 4. An auto-car race has taken place from Paris to Marseilles and back, a distance of 10-31 miles. The winner took 72 hours upon the journey.
