NAPIER NOTES.

[Fi'.om Olu Own Coukkspondkxt.] Napier, October 2. There were no fewer than thirtysix births iu Napier last month, while the deaths and marriages numbered eleven each. The Ovide-Musin Concert Company gave an excellent programme to a miserably poor house last night, which says very little for the musical taste of Napier. |On second consideration Napier hasn't got any musical taste. Its taste is in the direction of burlesque. with plenty of high kicking in it. There are at the present time 10 male and D! female patients in the Napier hospital. Of those treated during the month, two, males, died. 1 luring the last nine months there were 17 bankruptcies in Hawke's Rajas compared with 'lo during a like yeriod last year. Mr Londoun, the well-known and popular manager of the Hawke's Ray Farmers Co-operative Association, had a painful experience yesterday. He had been practising on a "safety," and gaining confidence put on a bit of a spurt which took him to the edge' of a decline. The result was a downfall which carried away a portion of his nose and rendered him partially unconscious. Luckily he was not seriously hurt, but "be is not taking any more bicycle just now.
