Derby, is to be spelled for a year. Derrett will ride Uniform next Monday in the Guineas. Captive has been backed for £2OOO to win the N.Z. Cup. Stewart Waddell has the Karamu horses well forward, and they may be seen to advantage next week. The Referee states " that it is unlikely that Searchlight will come to the post for the N.Z. Cup." So far, the daughter of Maxim and Iris has gone on all right in her work, and there is nothing to indicate that Bloodshot's sister will not start for the race. Captive and Daystar have each incurred a penalty of 31b for the Cup. Euroclydon is going on well in his training. Sir Launcelot, Defiant, and St Conon are the locally owned horses engaged in the Juvenile Plate at the Cliristchureh races. News from Coolgardie is that the local turf club's initial effort netted £'l7oo profit. " Sniiler " (Mr A. G. Hales), who gineered it, was presented with an honorarium of £3OO.
