Pollard's Opera Company.
Mr Fred. W. Duval, the business manager of this popular combination, arrived this morning to make arrangements for the forthcoming visit of the company here. The season will commence on Monday next, October sth, and will be here for six nights. The following are the arrangements : —On Monday Planquette's masterpiece the romantic comic opera "Rip Van Winkle " will be staged. This work has caused quite & furore in Auckland, where Mr Pollard's clever companyplayed it for six nights to crowded houses, the general opinions being that it was the best thing this company had ever produced. On Tuesday Bucolossis's celebrated work " The Black Cloaks " will be the attraction. On Wednesday " Paul Jones" will be produced for the benefit of country visitors, and on Thursday " Rip Van Winkle will be repeated. On Friday Planquette's world-renowned comic Opera, " Nell Gwynne," will be produced for the first time in New Zealand. On Saturday the season will terminate with Offenbach's melodious work, " Madame Favart." The operas will be staged with the magnificence and completeness for which this compeny is famed. The box plan will be opened on Wednesday at Mr H. H. Hunts.
