COLONIAL PRODUCE TRADE.

MR COOK ON TOUR. London, Sept. 18. Mr John Cook, of Victoria, has left on a visit to the continent for the purpose of ascertaining the prospect of increasing the trade in colonial products. On his return he will revisit the chief centres of Great Britain, and will endeavor to induce those interested in the trade to erect cool chambers. He considers it impossible to improve the trade until every town with a population of 100,000 or important seaport erects cold storage. There should, he thinks, be in some measure Government supervision of meat export. Mr Cook adds that owing to the small quantity of Chedder manufactured by America, Holland, and Canada there is a probability of a good season for colonial cheese.
