DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER. [By Telegraph.] Special to Standard. Wellington, This Day. A petition bearing the signatures of the chief officers of the Salvation Army and the president and leading officers of all the temperance organisations in the colony was presented to the Premier last night by Rev Mr Walker, of the New Zealand Alliance, in which the Government was urged to pass the amending Licensing Bill through 'the House as early as possible in order to give the Council sufficient time to complete its passage before the session closes.
