A representative of the AngloFrench Goldfields Company of Australasia is making enquries to the Govtrnment to grant a concession for the construction of a transcontinental railway. He offers to construct it with European labor and manufacture all the iron and steel 111 the Colony. The concession is to take the form of 9!) years' lease. It is stated that there arc immense formations of ironstone in the interior which will be developed. The Governmunt is lukewarm in the matter, but many of the members are favorable to the proposals.
