The Matabele chief, Makoni, recently captured, was found guilty by a court-martial trial and shot. A number of the waggons lost by the British troops have been recovered, being found in caves where they had been driven by the Matabele. It has been discovered that the rebels hanged many white women. Sept. 9. Six Matabele prisoners, including Makoni's son, have escaped from Port Salisbury.
