A fire was discovered at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday in the card-box manufactory department of the Evening Star Company. An accident occurred at the Iraquiai* station, a little distance beyond Out ram, yesterday morning to a young man named Alex. Munro, 22 years of age, a shepherd by occupation. He had been out on Saturday shooting sheep with a revolver, and on returning laid the weapon down on his bed. Yesterday morning he dressed to go to church, and being rather early he threw himself on the bed again. He had apparently quite forgotten having laid the revolver on |he bed and whisking off the bed clothes the weapon was thrown to the iloor and one chamber was discharged, the ball entering the unfortunate man's groin. Medical assistance was procured from Outram, but on account of the seriousness of the wound the man brought to the Dunedin hospital. Last night the institution was reached, but the man died two hours after.
