The Ota go football team were met on the -wharf by the •Reception Committee headed by Sir Robert Stout, at j'jyhose house they will be entertained ■at,,tea. They will b-.; driven to Island Bay in the afternoon, and in the : evening shown over the Parliamentary Buildings. The team is •much dissatisfied with the decision of the referee in Christcburch, who, they claim, should have given a try in their favor. An appeal is to be made. The team will be reinforced for the Wellington match. Christciiubcii, This Day.
Canterbury met the Otago reps on Lancaster Park on Saturday, and, won, by six points to five, after a wellcontested game. Invercargill, This Day.
There was beautiful weather for the football match Southland v. Queensland on Saturday. The visitors were defeated by 23 point to 3. The play of the Bananalanders was disappointing- '
