THE CHRISTIANS DEFEAT THE TURKS. Constantinople, August 26. News from Crete states that the Christiana defeated 1000 Turks near Beraklion with much plunder. The Moslems of Heraklion are clamoring for arms. The officers of the French warships threatened to land a number of sailors nnles quietude was restored. The Porte has accepted the proposals of the Cretan reforms, and the Consuls will be entrusted with the supervision of their execution-
