The question of Maori custom was raised in the Gisborne Supreme Court recently over a difficulty with regard to a dispute in connection with a Native b will. His Honor remarked that, it was, after all, all nonsense to talk about Native custom in such matters. Natives until recently could neither read nor write, and how could they make a will? They were always made by word of mouth if they were wade at all.—-P.B. Heiald.
