In the House of Commons Mr Chamberlain, in reply to a question by Mr Hogan as to whether he would during the recess reconsider his refusal of Queensland's request for the separation of Central Queensland, said immediate separation was not desirable ; therefore the further inquiry which had been suggested was not required. The British steamer Mushtara,which left Bombay for Suakim with stores and specie, and was reported lost, arrived at Muscat, at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, on July 81st, having changed the route she first intended to take.
