GENERAL ITEMS. Mklbovrne, August G. Hon E. T. Yale, honorary member of the Cabinet, has resigned. In conjunction with other honorary colleagues he had reported in favor of a complete change in controlling the head of one of the departments, but as the Colonial Treasurer would not immediately deal with the matter there was, he says, no alternative but to resign. At a conference of delegates from the Trades Unions and kindred political leagues, a political programme on very similar lines to that of South Australia was adopted. It includes Referendum, Enfranchisement of Women, Registration to be the only Parliamentary Qualification, Elective Ministries, and the Abolition of the Legislative Council. The conference adopted the title of the United Labor Party of Victoria. A miner named Yickery was literally blown to pieces through the premature explosion of a blast in a mine at Gaffney's Creek.
