COLLISION WITH A COLLIER.

A SYDNEY STEAMER RUNS INTO A COLLIER, AND HAS TO BE BEACHED. London, July 12. The steamer Wooloomooloo, bound from Sydney to London, collided with the collier Emerald during a fog in the English Channel. The steamer had a great hole knocked in her starboard side, below the water line, and was towed into Cherbourg to the anchorage, where she made so much water that she went down in the bows about 6ft., and her propeller showed above water. It was found necessary to beach her. The Emerald's bows were stove in. The passengers and crew were landed safely.
