SERIOUS EARTHQUAKES.

GREAT DAMAGE IN JAPAN. TERRIBLE LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY. Tokio, June 17. One hundred and fifty shocks of earthquake were experienced in twenty hours in the northern provinces of the principal islands of Japan, followed by a tidal wave. Appalling damage to property was the result, towns and villages being completely wiecked. The loss of life was enormous, and it is estimated that over 1000 people were killed.
