RESIGNATION OF MR WARD.
THE TREASURER ADDRESSES THE HOUSE. (By Telegraph.) < l''r<>in <mr Sjiccid' < 'l'lTcs/nmi/ent. > Weltuxgtox, this day. The Ministerial caucus lasted exactly n.n hour. Mi 1 Seddon .said the Colonial Treasurer had resigned from the Cabinet, and, on Mr Ho™'s motion, a resolution expressive of sympathy from the Liberal party towards Mr Ward in his troubles was passed. Air Ward announced that lie intended to make a statement to the House at half-past two, and said it was probably the last time he would meet the jparty in caucus. Those present are not at all unanimous whether this was meant as an indication of Mr Ward's retirement into private life, but the general feeling is that it was meant in that direction. It was decided to ask the House to agree to the extension of the timelimit to enable Air Ward to speak longer than the half-hour allowed. It was agreed to set up a joint committee of both Houses to go into banking matters and to impure into the confidence and capacity of the officers of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Seddon is now at Government House tending Mr Ward's resignation as a member of the Ministry.
