PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.
* BIBLE IN SCHOOLS BILL. [By Teleguaph.] I From our Special (.'urresjinnilcnt. / Wellington, This day. No material interference with the existing education system is intended under Mr W. Hutchison's Bible in Schools Bill. It gives power, however, to those in favor of Bible teaching in schools to meet and appoint a teacher, whose salary they will pay. Application is then to be made to the Education Board of the district for the use of a schoolroom for half an hour each day, where those scholars who desire it may receive Bible instruction. It is not sought to make the teaching sectarian.
Mr Thomas M'Kenxie has been iinanimously offered the appointment for a lengthened term as London agent of the Canterbury Farmers Co-operative Association at a salary approximating four figures. The probabilities are that Clutha's choice will accept conditionally on his being allowed to remain here during the remainder of the present session.
