Wellington, this day
" Have you seen Kirby " is the catch phrase heard everywhere. All sorts of theories are advanced as to his disappearance, but most- people hold the view that the accused is in hiding somewhere in the city. The Times gives currency to a rmnor that Kirby was seen in Molesworth Street 011 Monday night. The person who saw him is said to be confident that it was the missing man.
Another rumor tioating about yesterday was that Kirby was stowed away in a large case, and shipped by the Talune. As partly supporting this view, news has been received from Svdnev *' at amongst the cargo of the
v-f.s a suspicious-looking case,
which, on being opened, was found to contain a quantity of biscuits, two loaves of bread, two empty bottles, which had apparently been filled with water, some clothes, a bank draft in favor of Kirhy, and an envelope containing the address of a friend resident in Sydney on whom he intended to call. There was also a message to the friend. The Sydney find is believed to be a clever ruse.
