The news from Crete show that matters are in a very turbulent state, and that residents are appealing to Greece for protection. In the conflicts that have takeli place 25 Christians were killed. Refugees are crowding the various consulates. The insurgents in great numbers are beseiging the Turkish garrison at Yamos, and, as the food supply is short, it is expected they will have to evacuate unless assistance arrives soon Austria and Russia intend to send warships to the seat of the trouble.
