A DECIDED WIN FOR THE COLONIALS.
London, May 19. The match was concluded to-day, and ended in a victory for the Australians by an innings and 22G rims. The visitors continued their first innings, and were not disposed of until the score totalled 379. Gregory made a prolonged stand, playing with much vigour and dash. Johns, the wicket-keeper, made his first appearance in this match, and peformed with credit. The chief additional scores were Iredale... ... ... 21 Gregory 154 Hill 41 Trumble ... ... 40 Pougher took five wickets for 100 runs, and Rawlin two for 27. With 265 to the bad on the first innings, the English team commenced their second innings badly, and a rot set in, the whole team being disposed of for 89. ard was the only batsman to make any stand, carrying out his bat for 14. Giffen was in excellent form with the ball, taking seven wickets for 15 runs ; Jones three for 20.
The next match commences to-day on the Chrystal Palace ground against an Eleven of England.
