VOTE OF THANKS AND CON
FIDENCE

Wellington, This day. Mr J. Duthie addressed the electors last night, when he passed in review the policy and administration, of the Government, which he assailed. Referring to the land admiration he said the present mode of settlement was not successful. Under the present system a settler's life was not as pleasant as it was, and that he was treated in an overbearing spirit. The Minister, however, w'as entitled to great credit for ntroducing the Pastoral Tenant Bill. The banking legislation received special attention from Mr Duthie. The trading capital of the bank, he said, was now merely a class of public debt, and the colony had not even the control it would have over a State bank. Ho condemned the acceptance by the Premier of a seat on the I >oard of the German syndicate. The speaker was awarded a vote of thanks and confidence at the close of his addres-'.
