THE JOHANNESBURG RAID.
PARISIAN NEWSPAPERS ON THE SITUATION.
REFORMERS' PROPERTY TO BE
REMOVED
A WEST AUSTRALIAN SENTENCED.
Paris, May 1. Several Parisian newspapers fear that if the sentence of exile passed in the Transvaal on the members of the Reform Committee is carried into execution it will result in damage to the Rand, and that their places will be taken by Germans, which may injure French bondholders. They therefore urge that M. Hanotaux, Foreign Minister, should advise President Ivruger to commute that portion of the sentence. Phetoiua, May 2. An interdict proclaims that the reformers' property must be removed, except that of Leonards and Woolf. Hollanders and Doppers obstructed the measures taken for the lenient treatment of the prisoners. Pekxji, May 2. Walter Davis, one of the sentenced reformers at Pretoria, is a son of an old colonist here. It is thought probable that the Government will make some representations on the matter.
