High School Governors.

A meeting of the High Sohool Governors was held at Gisborne lost week. Present : Ven. Arohdeaoon Williams, Chairman; Governors J. Coleman, C. C. Lucas, and C. A. DeLautour.

The accounts for the year, audited by the Auditor-General, were returned.

The Beard’s position appeared to show a eUm to credit of £899, and a sum to accrue, due from the Sohool Commissioners; during the month of £2tiB 12s 41, receipts from reserves vented in the district, The Board’s expenditure is limited to the sum of £l5O per annum, paid to the Education. Board of Hawke's Bay , as the condition upon which the Public School was converted into a District High Schoo', in terms q£ the Edu cation Act,' 1877, The Board’s present income is about £3OO per annum, the unexpended balance being added to principal Accumulating on fixed deposit at the Union Bank of Australia.

The advisability of seeking power to found opg or two scholarships in aid of clever boys and girls who have completed thfir’education at the District High School, was discussed, as also of aiding in the sama way Cqunty children while in attendance at the school in Gisborne, but no decision was arrived at, the matter to be brought up again and considers! after the appointments of governors by the Government and 1.0.0ai bqdigg were completed, and members duly returned.
