Seven Salvationists were charged at tbe B.M, Court yesterday with obstructing the thoroughfare by holding meetings in the middle of a street, The Magistrate expressed surprise at the ratepayers in the neighbourhood enduring the nutsanoo. The accused were fined one shilling each and costs. One man only paid tbs fine, The others went to aaal for twenty tour hours, (holloing to allow the fines to be paid, HoEtriKA, last night, At Kumars on Monday a miner named McLeod, who was fossicking, was seen by some men in the osmo position on their return from dinner as when they went to it, and proceeding to the spot found that lite was extinct.

It Is believed that the fire aboard the barque Deltana has been extinguished, Over 45U gallons c! chemicals were injected into tbe hold on Monday night, it having been found that the water did not prove effective. The body of a man was seen floating off Taylor's Mistake yesterday, It was evidently that ot the man Briokstt, drowned while fl-hing the other day. The Directors of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company gave a luncheon to celsnrate the completion of repairs and additions to ths Company's works. Mr John Grigg, Chairman of Directors, presided, and there were about 150 persons present, including Sir J. Hall, Messrs Percival and Blake, M.H.R, s, and the Presidents ot the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Chamber ot Commerc;, and the Industrial Association.
Dcxsbis, last night, The town is orowdud with visitors from Australia, and they state that next week's boat will fie full of passengers.
