ROWING NOTES.
[BY OVTRIGGEB.J The Gisborne Bowing Club's trial fours will will be rowed off in about a fortnight. I have kept my eye on the river night and morning since the crews were picked, and I am sorry to say that none of the crews have done uy good work yet. Chrisp’s crew have only been out oWt; their time and swing is better than either the other crews, but they should row a longer stroke. Green’s crew have been out every day this week, doing good slow work. Stroke should Use his legs morr. Spurdie's crew will require to do a good deal of work. I noticed that on Tuesday evening when Mr Ratcliffe took stroke's place they were very short of wind. I have not been very rough on any of the erews, as there are one or two of the junior members amongst them, but I intend to let you know more about them next week. That will give them time to show their form. The following crews have been picked for junior fours: —Bourn (stroke), McKee (3), Adair (2), Evans (bow); Ratcliffe (stroke), Trimmer (3), Foster* (2), Parnell (bow); Miller (stroke), Colebourne (3), O’Meara (2), W. Chrisp (bow). They will go into praotioe tt Once. The Poverty Bay Rowing Club trial four crews have been doing very good work the last two or three days.
