jjONDON, Oct 9. The Martinis of Normanby has been interviewed regarding the statement that ho was to succeed Sir William Robinson as Governor of South Australia. His Lordship stated that he had not been promised the appointment, and he had n >t been informed that his wishes had been disregarded. It is now expected that he will be appointed elsewhere. Blaine expressed the opinion that the union of Canada with the United States was inevitable, but it was necessary that Canada should take initiatory steps in that direction.
