Rowing Notes.

A general meeting ot the Gisborne Bowing Club was held in the Masonic Hotel on Thurs day evening tor the purpose ot electing a captain, and for the consideration of other business. Mr W. Miller occupied the chair. On the motion of Mr McLean, seconded by Mr Lunn, Mr Bourn was unanimously elected captain. In returning thanks for the honor conferred on him Mr Bourn said he hoped to see the members take more interest in rowing this year than had hitherto been shown. They should all work together, and for his part he would do his utmost to further their favorite pastime. Five new members were elects 1. A long discussion took place as to the advisability of remitting the entrance fees of two lads who bad acted as coxswains during the last five years. Some members objected on the ground ihat it would be in direct opposition to the rules. On looking up the rules it was found that such was not the case, audit was decided to remit the fees. The opening day was left over for the Committee to arrange and they were also empowered to carry out the necessary arrangements for holding a smoke concert the same evening.
