POLITICAL NOTES.
[fbom oub own COBBESPONDENT.] Wellington, last night. The amendments made by the Legislative Council in the Native Land Bill have been agreed to by the House. The amendments were strongly opposed by Taiwbanga. The amendments in the other Native Bills have also been agreed to. The Government have decided to leave the question of District Railways alone, and for twelve months ratepayers will be free from the payment of rates. This year old veterans felt that their claims were at last going to be settled. The Legislative Council, however, laid aside the Bill dealing with claims for military services. The Government have now brought in a Bill containing all the provisions of the old Bill, except one objeotionable clause, and it is now hoped that the measure will be carried. The Bill was read a second time in the House yesterday, committed, read a third time, and passed,
