Some two years ago Mr Adams purposed a visit to England to see his aged mother whom he had not seen fur r early thirteen years, but owing to circum* stances he postponed his return to his native land, aud hearing a few months later of the death of his mother ha gave up thoughts of the projected trip. The deceased was one who cared little whether the opinions ha expiesaed were those populaily held, and naturally mide many opponents for the time being, but we believe that even his most bitter opponents held him in high esteem as a man. and can join in the general regret.
