Quite a curiosity in the way of applications was received by the Wellington Benevolent Trustees at their last meeting in the shape of a request from a man, a carpenter by trade, to vote a sum of £7 10s from their funds to assist him in an action he was bringing against a medical man who had attended hitn while he was suffering from injuries sustained by a fall from a scaffolding. He complained that he had suffered neglect from the doctor in question, and as a consequence of this alleged neglect he was likely to be a cripple for life. His solicitor had the matter in hand, but the applicant had not sufficient funds to bear the expense the bringing of an action would entail. He therefore asked the Trustees to vote him the sum named in order that be might proceed. The Trustees declined to take action in the matter —Post.
