St. Andrew's Day.

To-morrow (St. Andrew b day) will ba observed as a public holiday. The principal atuacLiun, of course, will be she annual Hospital sports, which will be unueuatiy attractive this year. No douot, many will take advantage o! the holiday to either go out to the country or up the river, but the sports will, as in the past, be well patronised. The Committee, it is said, have done everything iu having the ground put in good order and arranging for the comfort of the public. The entries for the various events are good, and as the handicapping has given very general satisfaction there are likely to be close finishes. The band will be present to enliven the proceedings, aud, in fact, everything has been done to guarantee that no cause will be found with the day’s outing which is arranged With his usual kindness, Mr E. F. Harris has placed bis paddock at the disposal of the committee. Tne paddock is within a few minutes* walk of the town, and for convenience we know of no more suitable ground. Tne weather promises to be all that can be desired, and it is predicted that the affair will be very suocesffui. 1 The day will be brought to a close by a concert in McFarlane’s Hall, in which mauy of our leading amateurs will take part.
