TRIPLE ALLIANCE.
PEACE ASSURED. THE EASTERN DIFFICULTY SOLVED. London, November 6, The Minister of Foreign Affairs for Austria, Count Kalnokv, in the course of an address to the Hungarian Delegation, stated that the policy of the three nations that had signed the alliance, Germany, Austria, and Italy, would have a powerful effect on the continued preservation of peace in Europe, and they would strive to induce Russia to join in their efforts to effect a settlement of the Eastern question, the views of the signatories of the Triple Alliance being in perfect accord with those of England on this difficulty. Later. The Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria, and Italy is primarily for defensive purposes and aims to maintain peace on the existing treaties. It also provides that in the event of any outside power attempting to disturb the peace of Europe and the Mediterranean, the Alliance will undertake combined military and naval actions to suppress any such attempt and the non-allied power will cohclude peace separately.
