FURTHER RIOTS : POLICEMAN KILLED MOONLIGHTERS ARRESTED. BALFOUR AND IRISH MEMBERS. London-, October 17. At at meeting at County Clare a riot occurred owing to the police trying to prohibit the proceedings. After an exciting struggle five Moonlighters were captured, but not till one constable was killed and three others injured. A number of rifles and a quantity of ammunition was captured.

In reference to the Mitoheltown riots M Bdfjur, Secretary for Irelanl, has stated that the late Mitoheltown riots were due to the band of politicians who called themselves the leaders of the Irish people.

The success of his visit to Ireland has irratedand disquieted the Liberal party and the Parnellites. Messrs Dillon and O’Brien are about to address a meeting at Woodford. In consequence of this intention numbers of the police and military are massing in the village. There appears to ba a determination cn the part of the Irish people to resitt the authorities, and bloodshed is feared.
