London, October 15. The Monte Christo and Morton mines at Cooldown have been sold to an English syndicate by Messrs Reid, Baird and Co. for the sum of £35,000.

The Qneenfort Brielc and Tile Company, Brisbane, with rt capital of £20,000, ,bas been registered by Heid and Bilird.

The land Company of Australasia will ba placed privately with a capital of £140,000. The directors .are Colonel Thyme, and Messrs Charles McLean, William Enkstein and Clem, liavenscroft.

Many enquiries ate being made as to the eondition-f on whieh farmers and others may settle on the Chaffey Bros? estate. The estate comprises some two hundred and fifty thousand acres in the vicinity of the Murray, and has been granted to the Messrs Chaffey by the Victorian Government for irrigation purposes, the licensees on their part undertaking to expend three hundred thousand pounds in twenty years in irrigation works, agriculture, horticulture, and the e-tablishnient of a frnit Preserving industry. Sir V. Barrington, the accredited representative of the British Royal Commission for the Melbourne Exhibition, has arrived in this city, and has been accorded a most favorable reception by Sonar Moreto, who promised to consider the question of the Phillipiae Islands participating in the Melbourne Exhibition.

The eorone,r’s jury have found eleven bailiff’s and Captain Hamilton, a land ngent, guilty of the murder of Kinsella, who was shot in the eviction riot at Wexford, It is expected that, the Crown will enter a nolle prosequi in this and the Mitchelstown case.
