THE COLONIAL POSTAGE BATES. LoSDON, September 24. The Agents-General have informed Mt Cecil Raikea, Postmaster-General, that the colonies decline to re-open the agreement arrived at dividing the cost and receipts ol the new Australian mail oontract according to the quantity of mails carried. They express much surprise at the endeavour of the Treasury to disturb the agreement. THE DYNAMITE PACTION.. Mezzerofit is appealing for funds in New York in order to resume an active dynamite campaign, GOLD EXTRACTION, The Times states that Mr Newbury Vontin has remedied the defects in the chorlination process of gold extraction. THE SIR JOSEPH BANKS RELICS. The Standard suggests that under the will of the late Sir Joseph Banks the collection of relics recently discovered in his museum, and purchased by Sir Saul Samuel, belong to the British Museum. HUNGARY. M. Fixer, President of the Hungarian Council of Ministers, is hopeful that the place will not soon be disturbed. ENGLISH MONEY MARKET. The Treasury of the United States will purchase several million dollars' worth of bonds within the next fortnight, which will be the means of relieving the English money market. EXHIBITIONS. Frank Stuart, late chairman of the Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers, has paid a visit to Manchester, He states that the manufacturers of woollen goods are afraid to exhibit at the Melbourne Exhibition, apprehending boycotting by the Victorian manufacturers.
DECLINE IN BANK SHARES. Bank of Australiasia shares have fallen ten shillings. AYOUB KHAN’S COMPANION CAPTURED Mahommed Noor, companion of Ayoub Khan in his flight from Persia, has been captured near Herat. JAY GOULD IN CHINA, The report in reference to the founding of an American bank in China by Jay Gould has been repeated, but not confirmed.
