COOK COUNTY COUNCIL. VT OTICE is hereby given that the Cook -L v County Council has by Special Order l dated the Ist September, 1887, dissolved the Waimata Road Diatilst, and has a.so constituted three new Road Districts, to b known as—(l.) The Whataupoko Road District—to comprise the township and suburbs of North Gisborne, the Hapara No. 3 Block, the MSHgauSpa find Matokitoki Blocks. (1J The Kaiti Bead District—to comprise the Kaiti and Papawariki Blocks. (8.) The Waimata Road District—to com* prise the Waimata Blocks, the Pouawa and Waiomoko Block, and the remainder of the Whataupoko Block lying north of those part 8 described as in the Whataupoko Road District.

It is therefore notified that an ELECTION of FIVE Ratepayers to serve as members of each of the new Districts will be held on WEDNESDAY, sth October, 1687, and I appoint Mr Petersen’s Store, North Gisborne* as the place, and up to noon on TUESDAY, 20th September, 1887, as the time for receiving Nominations for the Whataupoko Boad District. And I appoint Mr Paora Parau’s House, Kaiti, as the place, and up to noon on WEDNESDAY, the 21st September, 1887, as the lime for receiving Nominations for the Kaiti Boad District. And I appoint Mr Chas. Gray’s Woolshed. Waiohika, as the place, up to noon on MONDAY, the 19th day of September, 1887, as the time for receiving Nominations, for the Waimata Boad District. Before any Ratepayer can nominate, second, or vote for, er become a Candidate for the office of Member of either of these three Boards, he must pay all Bates due by him to the former Waimata Boad Board. NOTICE is hereby given that a petition, signed by Baiepayexs ot the luraugauui Boad District, praying that the Turauga-' nui Boad Board may be DISSOLVED, and the said District merged in the County, will be presented to the Cook County Council on THUBSDAY, the 13ih day ot > ctober, 1887. lhe following is a copy o£ the Petition :— To the Chairman and Members of the Cook County Council. Gentlemen,— The Petition of tuz Ratepayer of 11 The Tcbangznvi Boad District,” Hereby Shbwbth,— 1, That lor some years this District has been governed by a Road Board, and your Petitioners have thereby been compelled to pay two rates in each year, 2, That your Petitioners consider that if the Main Coast Boad is constructed and maintained the Cross Beads are of small moment, 3, That while the said District has been controlled by the said Boad Board these oroea roads have been totally neglected; in tact, not so much as a single farthing has been expended out of the rates collected for the last two years by the said Board, in making or maintaining any Boad whatsoever, in the said District, therefore your Petitioners’ payment of a second rate has not produced any beneficial effect upon the means of communication in the said District.
