GRAND NATIONAL HANDICAP, CHBisrcauacH, last night, The race for the Grand National Handicap resulted as follows ;-~
Faugh-a-ballagb •« t Brecon Hill .. . «, fl Ben .. .... ~8 Time, Omins, 7*ee*. It was won by 800 yards, 'Feugh-a-ballagh, bay gelding, was bred by Mr J, N. Williams of Hawke's Bay and te by Young Dainty. He io well known in the Bay having raced here on numeroae occasions but only once with success. He wae brought here by Mr J. Price, and raced by Mr Waldron from whom, through various channel*) he passed idto the hands ot Mr P. Baller, who disposed of him to his present owner Mr Rutherford. Faugh-a-ballagh has since his advent in Gisborne raced with more or lese success all over the oolony, his principal win being in Wellington in 1884 where he won the Wellington Steeplechase against a rattling good field, in ISB6 he ran second to Denbigh for the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase, with list up; and the same year ran 2nd to Canard for the New Zealand Grand National carrying 11 stone.]
